I love business people who see opportunity and aren’t afraid to take risks and do something a bit different. From the June 9 issue of Fortune comes the clever business idea from two brothers in Portland, Maine. These guys know the lobster business, having worked the docks. Their business, Catch a Piece of Maine, doesn’t just ship lobsters. It sells a customer the rights to a lobster trap for the season and, thus, the experience as well as the lobster. The catch is shipped home to the customer. Like any investment (this one reportedly costs $3,000), if the catch is great, you win big and the per-lobster cost decreases. But if the catch is paltry, the per-lobster cost rises. Check out this YouTube piece on the business.
