I was watching “The O’Reilly Factor” on Monday night because my daughter is on every Monday with Juan Williams. They were discussing political correctness where it involves Muslims and Juan had the temerity to say he gets nervous when a bunch of Muslims in traditional garb get on the same plane as he. I turned to my wife right then and said, “He’s going to catch hell for saying that.” Boy was I right:
Cable news blogger Johnny Dollar red-flagged NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik’s Twitter feed, which announced tonight that liberal NPR analyst/Fox News contributor Juan Williams’ contract was terminated — over comments Williams made about Muslims on The O’Reilly Factor. He gave his honest opinion: “[W]hen I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”
Most Americans just yawned at this because they feel the same way, but lefty outfits like Think Progress and the Huffington Post stirred up the PC waters and demanded action. NPR, gutless and PC to the core, terminated Juan’s contract forthwith.
This is the same NPR that, as Michelle Malkin pointed out, had a segment on recently to teach people how to “talk teabagger.” I don’t worry. Juan Williams is one of the few reasonable liberals remaining on the planet. His credentials are impeccable, especially in the area of civil rights. He’s not bigot by anyone’s measure, except maybe Think Progress and HuffPo. He’ll land on his feet.
