Over at his Ink Bytes blog, new N&R editor Jeff Gauger has been doing a lot of explaining.
It will be interesting to see if he explains this one. Two days after publishing a glowing profile of Guilford County Register of Deeds Jeff Thigpen, news that Thigpen’s lawsuit challenging North Carolina’s marriage license has been dismissed warrants only an A3 staff report with the generic headline Marriage license lawsuit rejected.
Bonus observations: I’m trying to get a permalink on Gauger’s March 29 post* about District 4 Guilford County Commission candidate William Douglas Williams, but I keep getting kicked to the comments.
According to Gauger, Williams did not want the N&R to take his photograph for a campaign profile because “he didn’t want his race in a Republican primary to overshadow his views on issues.” I’m not sure what the strategy is, but I think Williams would want to spread the message that socially and fiscally conservative African-Americans do exist, if for no other reason than to blow the minds of white liberals.
Here’s Williams’ Twitter feed, complete with photograph.
