Man, it’s getting knee-deep around here. The N&R again expresses its luv for American Express, praising the company for showing ‘uncommon altruism’ by declining economic incentives for its Greensboro data center, wondering if this will “strengthen the resolve of local officials who worry this area can’t attract new businesses without trowing money at them.”

Why am I skeptical? Note, too, that some of us believe the doors is not closed on incentives. And does anyone else think it’s strange that AmEx is being very tight-lipped about the data center?

Update: In the interest of being fair and balanced, I’ll note that Chris Hayes down at Civitas says it ‘warmed his heart’ to read that AmEx was building without incentives.
