Much was made in the days following the Greensboro City Council election about how upset the N&R was that longtime member Sandy Carmany lost her District 5 race to Trudy Wade. The Rhino’s John Hammer summed it up well:
It is time for Camany and all her buddies down at the News & Record to admit defeat. If they start the grieving process now, by the time Carmany has to clean out her desk, Allen Johnson and company may have moved past the denial stage of grieving, where they are now, to anger, and that will make the swearing-in ceremony so much more fun.
So as I pull my N&R print edition from the plastic bag this morning, I’m greeted with a front-page photo of none other than Sandy Carmany, hand over heart, leading everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance before the new council’s swearing -in ceremony.
Coincidence or not? Doesn’t matter. Time to move on.
