Here’s text of President Obama’s speech at Forsyth Tech. ‘Sputnik moment ‘ is the leading catch phrase.
The N&R editorializes:
In his speech at Forsyth Tech, the president also said the nation needs to spend its time and money on improving science education and providing more broadband Internet access, among other things.
Where the money will come from for such initiatives is anyone’s guess. North Carolina faces another bleak budget season, and it’s not yet clear what the new Republican majority in the General Assembly plans to do to tackle it. In Washington, D.C., Republicans have promised to stymie every Democratic initiative, no matter how worthwhile.
That’s the question that will dominate 2011 —where’s the money coming from?
