Folks, this is a campaign stop. The president views it as a good thing. Even he knows enough to wish to hide the disaster of Obamanomics, deliberately refusing to celebrate its second anniversary. But his green energy debacle he still fails to recognize.
Obama has learned nothing since first coming to office and being utterly bewildered that “investments” in green energy weren’t producing jobs. His “Yes We Can” naivete seems to govern his entire approach to economic issues, as if he could hope and deficit-spend his way into demand curves sloping upward (not helping: the fact that a lickspittle media encourage this sort of reckless ignorance).
The plant, owned by San Diego-based energy company Sempra, was built in late 2010 at a cost of $141 million. Funding included $42 million in federal-government tax credits and $12 million in tax-rebate commitments from the state of Nevada.
Construction of the plant involved over 300 part-time jobs, but currently only five full-time employees operate the plant, a Sempra spokeswoman confirmed. That comes out to $10.8 million in tax-dollar subsidies per employee.
Obama governs like a perverse King Canute who fervently believes that enough deficit spending, hope, and belief in the environmental justness of his cause and his own godlike power will allow him to sweep back the sea. Meanwhile, the rising tide of his spending lunacy threatens to engulf us all.
