Cato Institute’s Tad DeHaven writes here about the president’s proposal to streamline the federal government by merging four corporate welfare agencies into one. The supposed savings amount to a miniscule (in federal terms) $300 million, which would just be squandered elsewhere. But this little conjuring trick will enable Obama to claim that he’s working to make the federal government more efficient. No doubt the media will help propagate that baloney.
