Obama’s latest waste of taxpayer money is his bus tour where he tries to make people believe that if we pass his “jobs bill,” education will improve, but if we don’t, well it will be terrible for school kids. Cato Institute’s Andrew Coulson shows here that the argument is deceptive nonsense. For decades, the US has been ladling more and more money into public education with nothing to show for it except a lot more teachers demanding that they get higher pay.

I would add that children who are taught at home or in many low-cost non-government schools who do extremely well on standardized tests similarly refute Obama’s notion that the more we spend on education, the better the results will be.
