I dare anyone to read Steve Harrison’s front-pager and conclude our current $9 billion transit plan makes lick of sense.

It is all there — the lack of density, the land-use cudgel, the re-development (sure to feature tax subsidies), the worsening congestion, the lack of Uptown employment to anchor transit — everything we’ve talked about pretty much since the start of Meck Deck, and certainly the past year solid.

The only thing that is missing is any sense that it is impossible to pay for the current plan with the half-cent alone, that future tax hikes are virtually certain if we keep this plan. The hint of that future can be seen in the North plan that includes future property tax revenue in the funding mix.

Go ahead — read the story and try to justify your continued support for the half-cent tax.
