Boone Saloon owner Skip Sinanian, as might be expected, was cited for violating the city’s new noise ordinance. In one night, he was fined $250 and then $500. He says both complaints came from the same person. About a week ago, Sinanian complained that the new ordinance specifies no decibel levels but relies on complaints and officer subjectivity. Furthermore, Sinanian was having difficulties procuring a permit from the city because their attorney was still drafting the language. Officials told the Watauga Democrat that Sinanian could have shown officers a receipt as proof of his $1000 application, but nobody told Sinanian.
