Hats off to Rod Helder, the director of the state’s Division of Non-Public Education. This story in the Wilmington Star-News, breathlessly noting the independence of private schools from heavy-handed government direction, nevertheless included Helder’s commonsense explanation of why it works so well — because it is regulated by the market forces of parents who choose, and who voluntarily pay for their?own decisions.
