John Locke Foundation experts continue to enlighten radio and television audiences across the state. As the investigation into former Gov. Mike Easley moved forward this week and former N.C. House Speaker Jim Black returned to the news because of questions about his $1 million corruption fine, Carolina Journal Executive Editor Don Carrington discussed recent developments with Don Curtis for the Curtis Media Group’s “Carolina Newsmakers” radio program. He also offered an update to Scott Fitzgerald on the WPTF Radio morning show. JLF Fiscal and Health Care Policy Analyst Joseph Coletti also appeared on WPTF this week, joining the afternoon radio show to discuss the details of high-risk insurance pools. Coletti also offered a critique for WSOC Television about state legislators’ plans to expand the sales tax base. WCTI Television picked up that story as well. WTVD Television interviewed Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray about problems associated with federal stimulus money. Communications director Mitch Kokai joined Curtis Wright on WLTT Radio’s “Morning Beat” program to discuss the state budget stalemate, and Lockwood Phillips welcomed Legal and Regulatory Policy Analyst Daren Bakst to WTKF’s “Viewpoints Radio” program to discuss annexation and other property rights issues. (Wearing another hat, as president of the Council on Law in Higher Education, Bakst appeared in the Wall Street Journal this week discussing privacy issues associated with higher education.)
