The WPTF Radio news department sought John Locke Foundation President John Hood‘s reaction Thursday to an unusual case of a state Senate committee issuing a subpoena to UNC Public Television to view a documentary linked to the Alcoa dam controversy. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted this week Hood’s column on the final state budget deal. Meanwhile, N.C. Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin noted on his blog that one of Hood’s columns touts Goodwin’s positive insurance reforms. Several other JLF experts spent time on the radio this week. Meck Deck blogger Jeff Taylor returned to Tara Servatius’ program on WBT to discuss the sales tax implications of Mecklenburg County’s continued employment woes. N.C. History Project Director Troy Kickler joined Chad Adams on WLTT to discuss the Wilmington area’s history of tax protests. JLF communications director Mitch Kokai discussed the newly signed state budget on Curtis Wright’s WAAV/WFNC morning program. Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray spent time on both radio and television this week. She joined Carl Lamm Monday on WTSB Radio’s morning show, then served as a guest panelist for the latest N.C. Spin television show. Today Gray speaks at the Western North Carolina Let Freedom Ring Tea Party in Franklin. Gray also attracted recent attention from print media. The Mooresville Tribune published her column on the “shipwreck of state.” YES! Weekly‘s publication and blog both highlighted Gray’s participation in a Take America Back picnic in Greensboro. Meanwhile, a YES! Weekly candidate profile noted one N.C. House hopeful’s support for JLF principles.
