Radio hosts and live audiences kept JLF experts busy this week. Vice President Chad Adams offered his regular monthly roundup of state issues for Curtis Wright on Wilmington’s “Big Talker” radio. Adams discussed the governor’s race and developments in ongoing state government corruption cases. Adams also appeared in Wilmington with WWNC afternoon host Matt Mittan. Mittan’s program reaches a western North Carolina audience, but he traveled throughout the state this week to discuss issues with experts in other Tar Heel communities. JLF analysts filled Mittan’s program during his stop Wednesday in Charlotte. Adjunct scholar David Hartgen discussed transportation issues, Lindalyn Kakadelis of the N.C. Education Alliance discussed education tax credits, and Meck Deck blogger Jeff Taylor discussed crime and other top Charlotte/Mecklenburg political concerns. While Mittan was criss-crossing the state, JLF Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray was also logging miles for speaking engagements. Gray discussed the upcoming legislative session and local govermment finances in speeches to FreedomWorks groups in Marion and Mitchell County, as well as the Gastonia Republican Women’s Club. Meanwhile, Education Policy Analyst Terry Stoops shared his insights about gubernatorial candidates’ education platforms with the Salisbury-Rowan Republican Women’s Club. (The Daily Tar Heel also quoted Stoops this week reacting to recent developments with the state lottery.)
