In addition to Don Carrington and Rick Henderson, other John Locke Foundation staff members are logging significant time on the road. Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray delivered speeches this week to the Roxboro Kiwanis Club, the North Mecklenburg Republican Women’s Club, and the Beaufort Republican Men’s Club. (Gray also returned to the N.C. Spin television spotlight this week, for a program focusing on Senate Majority Leader Tony Rand’s resignation, audit woes for the Golden LEAF, a new transportation funding scheme for Interstate 485, and the potential move of Bank of America’s headquarters from Charlotte.) Legal and Regulatory Policy Analyst Daren Bakst traveled to Campbell University Tuesday to discuss global warming and cap-and-trade proposals. Bakst also offered a formal comment to the N.C. Utilities Commission about industrial customers’ ability to opt out of state energy-efficiency program requirements. Communications director Mitch Kokai traveled to a first-of-its-kind Carteret County Fair last weekend to address a rally focusing on the importance of voting. Kokai is also slated to participate Saturday in FreedomWorks’ “Taxpayer March on Raleigh.” Both the Lincoln Tribune and a state Senate Republican blast e-mail highlighted contributor Karen McMahan‘s Carolina Journal exclusive previewing that march.
