Audiences through much of central North Carolina learned about the John Locke Foundation this week through speeches from Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray. She served as a featured speaker for Americans For Prosperity’s two-day, nine-city “November Is Coming” bus tour through competitive congressional districts. The Rocky Mount Telegram, Laurinburg Exchange, Richmond County Daily Journal, and Sampson Independent all mentioned Gray or JLF in coverage of the event. The Civitas Review featured CarolinaJournal.tv’s full-length coverage of the tour’s Fayetteville rally. The Patriots 28560 blog also quoted from Gray’s remarks, then submitted those comments to BeforeItsNews.com. In addition to Gray’s travels, President John Hood discussed the 2010 elections in a presentation Thursday to the Graham Rotary Club. Hood also discussed education reform in an afternoon drive-time interview with Detroit’s WLQV Radio. Michael Sanera, Director of Research and Local Government Studies, heads to Oak Ridge Saturday to deliver remarks to a group commemorating the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Terry Stoops, Director of Education Studies, drove to Elizabeth City Thursday night for a presentation to the Al-Pam Republican Club. Stoops focused on education issues of particular interest to northeastern North Carolina. The Elizabeth City Daily Advance, Bertie Ledger-Advance, and Perquimans Weekly all promoted the speech. In addition to his road trip, Stoops discussed teachers’ associations and other education topics during an appearance this week with Chad Adams on WLTT Radio. Speaking of radio, Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar Roy Cordato granted a pair of interviews this week. The N.C. News Network sought Cordato’s response to the latest round of global warming alarmism from the left-leaning group Environment North Carolina, while WUNC Radio interviewed him about tax reform. Along with the radio interviews, Tax.com promoted Cordato’s recent Freeman article on the value-added tax.
