Just counting the seconds until Speaker Jim Black’s defenders start telling us that “everyone” routed blind, secret cash to Rep. Mike Decker, that “the system” is broken and to blame, that only Jim Black, as Speaker, can help fix that broken system.
Please.
Let’s dispense with the pretense. If it looks like Jim Black paid at least $30,000 to Mike Decker to switch political parties and make Jim Black speaker — and that is a common-sense conclusion to draw given the facts — then it is up to the Black wing of the kleptocracy that passes for government in this state to explain why appearances mislead us.
And if you are an elected official in Mecklenburg County, or an opinion maker of any rank, standing, or aspirations, now is the time to put up or shut up. Way past time, actually. The question of the hour: Do you stand with Jim Black or for effective, honest, open government?
