In the minds of many employed in the public sector, there’s never enough money. After Durham County ran a campaign that succeeded in convincing voters to raise the sales tax rate on county shoppers, the drumbeat for wanting even more of other people’s money has already begun. Last week I blogged about county commissioners passing out raises, and today we have this story about the Big Education bureaucracy crying about what to do.
It is predictable behavior from the beneficiaries of public dollars. Will Durham bureaucrats and elected officials think about the impact of their spending on the people forced to pay for their unquenchable thirst for more?
