Among other important points, he observes that Obama is trying to wrap himself up in nationalistic garb and that what he wants is not really socialism, but rather a greatly expanded corporatist state. “By that, I mean business people, especially those who run big, well-connected incumbent firms, love this sort of thing. Why take chances and risk market share in the unpredictable free market when I can get government to keep things orderly?”

Keep in mind that some of Obama’s biggest supporters are big business executives who see that their firms will make like handsomely under various Obama projects like nationalized health care and “green jobs.”
