taxfreedomYou’ll have to put in another week of work before you reach your Tax Freedom Day, according to the Washington-based Tax Foundation.

North Carolina reaches Tax Freedom Day April 10, which ranks the Tar Heel State No. 30 in the country (with No. 1 representing the latest Tax Freedom Day). Tax Freedom Day arrives one day earlier for North Carolina in 2013 than in 2012. Among neighboring states, we fare better than Virginia, worse than South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. National Tax Freedom Day is April 18.

Back in 2011, the Tax Foundation’s Joseph Henchman explained for Carolina Journal Radio/CarolinaJournal.tv the concept underlying Tax Freedom Day. Just two years ago, the national Tax Freedom Day arrived six days earlier at April 12.
