Orange County Commission Chairman Barry Jacobs, in a WRAL story posted on the station’s Web site, lashes out at the real estate industry, which opposed the land transfer tax that Orange voters defeated by a 2 to 1 margin on Tuesday. The NC Association of Realtors has opposed the tax in every county that has put it on the ballot. All 20 efforts have been soundly defeated. Go to wral.com for the full story. According to Jacobs in the WRAL story:

“Nobody likes to lose, and nobody likes to lose to a bully,” Jacobs said.

I wonder if Jacobs realizes that some Orange County taxpayers feel the same way about the county commissioners, who are almost always successful at imposing their will. Tuesday’s result is the exception in Orange County and Jacobs isn’t used to losing.
