Orange County commissioners have approved a new $178 million budget for the new fiscal year. The property tax rate — 85.8 cents per $100 in valuation — will remain in place.  Tax dollars are precious every year, but in a stagnant economy it is especially important for local officials — particularly big-government liberals such as those who control Orange County — to be conscientious stewards of public money. Orange commissioners and staffers would benefit by spending a few minutes with JLF’s new City/County guide in order to stay focused on key principles that protect citizen freedom while providing core local government services such as fire, police, and education.
