Orange County voters approved a quarter-cent sales tax hike 61% to 39%. 

Orange County appropriated $50,000 in public funds for a public “education” campaign that included fliers being sent home to parents via public schools. John Locke Foundation Director of Legal and Regulatory Studies Daren Bakst says that by doing so, Orange County violated state law that prohibits local governments from using public funds to promote or oppose referendums.
