Democrat Bill Faison, who represents Orange and Caswell counties, says he’ll run for re-election to the 50th District of the House, ruling out what was a recurring rumor that he would seek the nomination for governor. But a run might still be in his future, according to this Herald-Sun story (registration required on the site). He tells the paper he definitely considered it, but he didn’t get a key role in the House that would have helped him:
In particular, Faison said if he or Wake Rep. Dan Blue had been elected House speaker for the current term, he would have been in a better position to run for governor. Faison believes Blue would have chosen him for a key administrative position.
