In other rulings issued this morning, the N.C. Court of Appeals:

  • upheld the award of nearly $18,000 in attorney’s fees to a woman who successfully fought her termination as a Durham Social Services child support agent.
  • ruled against the state Department of Health and Human Services in a dispute over emergency Medicaid coverage for a “non-qualified alien.”
  • upheld a trial court’s ruling in favor of the New Hanover County Water and Sewer District in a case involving condemnation, eminent domain, and procedural due process.
  • reversed a lower court ruling in an involuntary annexation dispute involving the Village of Sugar Mountain in Avery County. The reversal favors the village.
