The Wake County Republican Men’s Club learned more this week about the clear differences between conservative and liberal public policies when Becki Gray, John Locke Foundation Vice President for Outreach, addressed the group. Gray previewed the week’s top political news during a regular Monday appearance on WTSB Radio. She returns this afternoon to recap the week’s major developments. Troy Kickler, N.C. History Project Director, discussed the American Founding, the N.C. Constitution, and the American Civil Liberties Union’s attempts to end legislative prayer during an appearance with Lockwood Phillips on WTKF’s “Viewpoints Radio.” Mitch Kokai, JLF Director of Communications, also discussed North Carolina political headlines during his latest appearance with Curtis Wright on WAAV/WFNC Radio. The Rocky Mount Telegram interviewed Kokai about the North Carolina governor’s race. (McCrory will have to adjust his campaign somewhat since Perdue is not running, said Mitch Kokai, a spokesman for the John Locke Foundation,a Raleigh-based conservative-leaning think tank. Instead of pointing directly to Perdue’s actions and track record as governor, Kokai said, McCrory will have to reapply his message and campaign tactics against someone new.) JLF research intern Ziyi “Milton” Mai joined Rick and Donna Martinez on WPTF Radio to discuss his journey from communist China to North Carolina in the pursuit of both higher education and freedom. Business North Carolina cited the John Locke Foundation in an article about Gov. Beverly Perdue’s recent problems. (As if there haven’t been enough dust-ups over jobless numbers, Perdue recently got caught up in controversy when a publication of the conservative John Locke Foundation questioned whether her reviewing figures before their release to the public violated federal policy. The piece showed that the governor is more than a little concerned about how the figures get spun.) C-SPAN2’s Book TV will show this weekend Duke University professor Charles Clotfelter’s recent JLF Shaftesbury Society presentation on big-time college sports. A Fayetteville Observer guest columnist cited JLF data on highway spending. A Libertarian Party member’s recent letter to both the Monroe Enquirer-Journal and Union County Weekly promoted JLF ideas for addressing state budget priorities. A Jacksonville Daily News letter promoted an upcoming March 17 Citizen’s Constitutional Workshop in Morehead City. A Mountain XPress article about the left-of-center “Out of Control” tour referenced the Locke Foundation.
