N.C. Senate Republicans promoted John Locke Foundation President John Hood‘s columns this week on the Democrats’ gubernatorial candidates, election developments, and ancient Chinese history. Becki Gray, Vice President for Outreach, traveled from the coast to the mountains this week. The Wilmington Star-News and Brunswick Beacon promoted her speech on the 2012 elections to the Brunswick County Republican Women. Gray will appear in studio this afternoon with Pete Kaliner on WWNC Radio to discuss state government news and to preview a pair of congressional debates scheduled Saturday in Asheville. Gray and Executive Vice President Kory Swanson are moderating separate debates for 10th and 11th District candidates. Along with the travels, Gray continues her twice-weekly state government and political updates on WTSB Radio. The Bertie Ledger-Advance also promoted her upcoming speech to the Bertie County Republicans’ annual convention. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted Gray’s column on North Carolina’s ports policy. WWNC’s Kaliner interviewed Mitch Kokai, Director of Communications, earlier this week on the By The Numbers report. Kokai discussed the week’s top state government news this morning on WAAV/WFNC Radio. National Review‘s latest issue published Kokai’s letter on the history of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s fall from power. The Triangle Business Journal‘s blog cited the John Locke Foundation while discussing this week’s Shaftesbury Society presentation on hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” for natural gas. The Gaston Gazette noted the John Locke Foundation’s decision to grant a James K. Polk Award for leadership in public office to Buncombe County school board member Lisa Baldwin. (John Hood, John Locke Foundation president, introduced Baldwin by saying, “Polk’s work ethic and commitment to principle are clearly evident in the career of our first honoree tonight, Lisa Carpenter Baldwin.” He then went on to praise her for supporting parental choice and competition in education.) N.C. History Project Director Troy Kickler has written the four-page preface to Scott E. Hendrix’s new book, Riot and Resistance in County Norfolk, 1646-1650: The Road to Rebellion in Seventeenth-Century Britain. The iMediaEthics.org website noted Squall Lines blogger Chad Adams’ recent criticism of a Wilmington Star-News editorial.
