John Hood did more this week than react to the governor’s budget proposals. A recent post on National Review Online’s blog, “The Corner,” offered some positive news about trade policy, conservative “fusionism,” and transportation issues. Hood also commented for a recent Winston-Salem Journal article about the impact of Dell’s job cuts on its targeted tax incentive package. (John Hood,
the president of the John Locke Foundation in Raleigh, has been a vocal
opponent of corporate incentives, particularly involving Dell. Hood
said that the latest production possibilities for Dell “underlines why
it is unwise for governments to base their fiscal policies around the
predicted futures of single companies.”

In other news, columnist Bob Steinburg quoted N.C. History Project Director Troy Kickler in a piece about the Edenton Tea Party. Meanwhile, Carolina Journal Executive Editor Don Carrington‘s ongoing investigative journalism work earned praise this week from a blogger at Carolina Politics Online.
