Charlotte’s WFAE Radio recently turned to Meck Deck blogger Jeff Taylor for insight about the Queen City’s mayor’s race. Taylor also continued to provide source material for mainstream media reports. His post on Grameen America predated a Charlotte Business Journal article on the same topic. Taylor also informed readers of new developments in the Charlotte talk-radio world several days before the Charlotte Observer tackled the same topic. Speaking of Charlotte, Lindalyn Kakadelis of the N.C. Education Alliance granted an interview on school funding issues to Charlotte Magazine. Moving from Charlotte to Chatham County, the work of John Locke Foundation Research Director and Local Government Analyst Michael Sanera has attracted recent attention. Articles in both the Chatham News and Chatham Record highlighted Sanera’s contribution to a recent land-use debate. (Heather Johnson and others with the Chatham Conservative Voice held signs calling the ordinance a “land grab” and handing out leaflets with opinions about the regulations from the John Locke Foundation (JLF). Michael Sanera of the JLF has written a report critical of the ordinance. In it he writes, “Chatham County is considering this land-use plan largely to offer a presumed aesthetic benefit to people driving through the county. This plan would place all of the costs on the property owners and give all of the supposed benefits to those who use the roadways, most of whom would pay no cost,” he wrote.) Meanwhile, Carolina Journal Executive Editor Don Carrington offered insights about economic development in an interview with the Michigan Information & Research Service (MIRS). Paul Chesser of Climate Strategies Watch also wrote recently in the Spectator. He focused on efforts to develop a Southern regional agreement on climate-change policy.
