John Locke Foundation Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray appears again this week with John Hood on the statewide N.C. Spin telecast. They’ll discuss new state debts connected to unemployment payments, a new program to invest state pension funds in North Carolina businesses, changes in the state’s two largest school boards, and controversy surrounding retiring Sen. Tony Rand. Meanwhile, the Locke Foundation earned some publicity recently in the Tryon Daily Bulletin, when Columbus’ outgoing mayor, Kathleen McMillian, mentioned in a column JLF’s positive grade of her town’s online transparency efforts. The United for Union blog also highlighted this week Research Director and Local Government Analyst Michael Sanera‘s report about so-called “adequate public facilities ordinances.” Sanera’s work takes on new significance now that the N.C. Court of Appeals has struck down Union’s APFO. In other news, the Liberty Point Web site mentioned JLF support for Libertarian Party efforts to battle North Carolina’s restrictive ballot access laws.
