Meck Deck blogger Jeff Taylor returned to the WBT Radio airwaves Wednesday to discuss Mecklenburg County’s budget woes with Tara Servatius. Radio listeners on both ends of the state heard this week from John Locke Foundation communications director Mitch Kokai. Kokai offered a brief update on legislative commission discussions to Matt Mittan of Asheville’s WWNC, then discussed the state’s budget and unemployment woes with Curtis Wright on WLTT, Wilmington’s “Big Talker.” In other news,  a YES! Weekly blog profile of legislative candidate Jon Hardister highlighted his strong support for the John Locke Foundation’s research, especially in terms of its budget work. The Cary News quoted another legislative candidate, current Morrisville Councilman (and E.A. Morris alumnus) Tom Murry, discussing his efforts to boost the town government’s transparency efforts in light of the examples set by JLF’s NCTransparency.com. Meanwhile, the Historial Marker Database cited the work of the N.C. History Project in a Web article about the marker for Timothy Bloodworth. Speaking of the History Project, a reenactment group called the Washington County regiment cites its entry on the Transylvania Purchase. In addition, the Raleigh Examiner noted the John Locke Foundation’s participation in a lawsuit challenging North Carolina’s restrictive ballot-access laws.
