WBT Radio’s morning show called on two John Locke Foundation experts during the past week. Lindalyn Kakadelis of the N.C. Education Alliance discussed school funding controversies, while Meck Deck blogger Jeff Taylor discussed the Mecklenburg County budget and golf courses. Taylor returned to the WBT airwaves Thursday afternoon. He and host Tara Servatius discussed President Obama‘s visit to the Queen City. WBTV interviewed Taylor this week about a potential conflict of interest involving an outside lawyer hired to help Charlotte with a sexual harassment investigation involving a city council member. In other news, JLF Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray hit the road this week for a presentation to the Wilmington Rotary Club. Gray also attended the State Board of Education meeting for the official presentation of the final report from the Career Ready Study Commission, a board on which she served. Meanwhile, a recent article from syndicated columnist Scott Mooneyham mentioned the John Locke Foundation in discussing the need for a consumer advocate at the General Assembly. Mooneyham described the Locke Foundation as one of the “conservative or anti-tax” groups that “enter the fray” of public debate. His column appeared in publications including the Asheville Citizen-Times, Greenville Daily Reflector, and Roxboro Courier-Times.
