Readers of the Washington Examiner learned within the past week that President Obama’s anti-recessionary policies differ little from those of his predecessor. In fact, the Obama administration’s policies represent “George W. Bush on steroids,” according to Dr. Roy Cordato, John Locke Foundation Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar, whose column on the topic appeared in the Examiner and the Kernersville News. The News & Observer interviewed Dr. Michael Sanera, Director of Research and Local Government Studies, for a report on the Raleigh Convention Center’s reliance on taxpayer-funded incentives to boost business. The N.C. Institute for Constitutional Law’s “Corporate Welfare Weekly” update highlighted Sanera’s comments to the N&O. The Charlotte Observer interviewed Joseph Coletti, Director of Health and Fiscal Policy Studies, for a story about the insurance options available to people up to 26 years old. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted Coletti’s recent column outlining North Carolina state government’s budget woes. The N.C. Association for County Commissioners also highlighted Sanera and Coletti’s efforts to educate Robeson County voters about the problems associated with a local sales-tax referendum. Meanwhile, Daren Bakst, Director of Legal and Regulatory Studies, recently wrote for the free-market energy blog MasterResource.org about the significance of Texas state government’s efforts to fight regulatory overreach from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. CanadaFreePress.com and BeforeIt’sNews.com picked up Bakst’s comments. (Last week’s impact report mentioned Bakst’s presentation at the American Legislative Exchange Council annual meeting in San Diego. Coletti also offered a presentation during that meeting on Medicaid reform. His ALEC group approved Medicaid reform model legislation.)
