The house at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. in Durham was demolished today. Surely this is much to the relief of administrators at Duke University, the owners of the infamous address. The site was a constant reminder of the craven response by Duke’s leaders and 88 members of its professoriate in 2006 when Crystal Gail Mangum lied about being raped by three Duke lacrosse players.

Evidently, the house was milked of its value as a crime scene, or as evidence in lawsuits, because an earlier attempt by Duke to knock down this dismal reminder was nixed by the players’ lawyers.
