The Town of Black Mountain recently purchased a parcel downtown for $2.1 million. Mild opposition suggested they did not have the funds. The aldermen didn’t know what to do with it, so they conducted a survey. The response indicated a chunk of people could be persuaded to answer questions in a way that made it sound like they wanted a town square or a park. The next step will be to conduct a traffic study. The town doesn’t have funds for that, either, so it has gotten a grant from the MPO. It still needs to partner up another $6000. If you think this is weird, you may attend the town square steering committee meeting at the Town Hall January 11 at 5:30.
