Watched this unfold since the first of the year. Several vacant lots which county records indicate are owned by Canterbury Place LLC on Bridlebrook Way in South Charlotte have gone from unslightly, to eye-sore, to now oozing wound.
Since beginning in mid-winter at least, a rough-in pipe on one the lots has been leaking water. A quick check today documented that it is dripping out at a rate of 60 gallons a day. Conservatively, that would put the loss during the past 60 days at 3600 gallons. The ground has now become saturated and is primed to become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
As you would expect from a new neighborhood, all manner of CMUD vehicles and city inspectors have been up and down the road in front of the leak in recent weeks — one CMUD pick-up truck number 313 just this weekend. Yet the drip goes on.
I would love to know who — if anyone — has been playing the water bill for that leaking lot — or if the leak has simply been passed onto other neighboring customers.
