Hello? Anybody there? How isn’t this a case of insurance fraud? Jim Long and his state insurance commission investigators keep saying insurance fraud costs North Carolina residents billions, where are they now?
The N.C. Board of Dental Examiners clearly thinks Charlotte dentist Spurgeon Webber III defrauded a state health plan. Does the department of insurance agree or not? At last check insurance fraud was a felony.
Knowing how Raleigh works, I cannot help but wonder if Webber’s status as a prominent member of the community from a prominent family might be an issue here. Webber is a leader of the group that bought into the Charlotte Bobcats’ ownership in 2004. FEC records show Webber gave $1,000 to Erskine Bowles’ senate run in 2002.
Makes you wonder.
