The patchwork OL gave up seven sacks and Jordan Gross did not look remotely up to the task of protecting Matt Moore’s blind side. Yes, the Ravens come at you from all angles, but so will most defenses intent on testing Moore. Releasing veteran starter Keydrick Vincent looks more and more questionable as a result.

Also questionable, trading up to take Armanti Edwards. A pure WR seems a stretch for him as both his hands and route running seem suspect. Operating out of Wildcat formation? Who knows, but it ain’t gonna happen.

The LBs also were gashed repeatedly by screens and check-downs as Jon Beason seemed to struggle with playing on the edge. Wouldn’t be a shock to see Beason move back to the middle at some point if Jamar Williams can get up to speed. The defensive also missed Chris Gamble downfield. But the DL performed well, getting upfield and causing trouble. Should rookie DE Greg Hardy continue to improve, he’ll be an absolute 6th round steal.

Overall the offense showed it very much needs to get healthy and the defense must continue to tweak personnel.

Oh, and Jimmy Clausen? A couple good throws against 2nd teamers and a pick. More or less exactly what any rational person would expect.
