They are done.

For the record, that’s a 10-6 game turned into a 37-6 game almost instantly. Amazing series was not the DeShaun Foster fumble (!!) to open the 3rd and the floogates. No the amazing series was the next one where Foster is still a featured part of the offense.

The Panthers went Foster for 1, Foster for 11, pass to Foster for 3, Foster run for -1, Vinnie wildly overthrows Colbert on 3rd and 8. Punt. Ballgame.

It is really down to Jerry Richardson at this point. Either he wants competitive NFL franchise or a place for his boys to hang out and act like big shots. Pick one.

The Panthers have ridden “facilitator” and penny-pincher in-chief Marty Hurney as far as possible. Either they get a real football guy as GM — which would mean Jon-Jon and Marky give up some power — or prepare for continued failure.

This team needs a tear-down and re-build which means you pick a guy and trust them to get it done. No more decision by consensus — with the bottom-line impact on the balance sheet always in view.

Oh, and Bank of America Stadium needs a good $10 million worth of upgrades to boot.

There will be denial this week, but the empty seats for the Seattle game will compel a change.

Update: Here’s Steve Reed being brutally honest.
