Former NASCAR publicist Chip Williams is definitely going away for a while.

Good riddance, but I admit I was shocked at the duration of the “relationship” with his victim:

After some coaxing from her mother, she eventually admitted to having a sexual relationship with a man who used the pseudonym “John Wisham” on the Internet. His sexual fantasies made her nervous and that’s why she was willing to talk, Hubbard said. “He was way out there,” Hubbard said.

She told detectives that she initially met him when she was 11 and that over the years they had six or seven encounters. He had tied her up with duct tape and spanked her with a belt.

After the court hearing, the victim’s mother spoke with reporters about what her child has gone through and urged other parents to be vigilant.

“You have to be diligent and know what your kids are doing online,” she said. “Don’t worry about whether they get mad at you. Don’t worry about their privacy.

“If I hadn’t done that, he never would’ve been caught.”

Perhaps if the mother had been even more diligent, her daughter never would have become involved with a creep like Williams in the first place.

Sorry, but that had to be said.
