And CMPD’s bomb squad was called in as a result.

WBTV has a bizarre tale of employees of a South Blvd. restaurant freaking out over a small electronic black box and calling in the bomb squad. The bomb squad then has to disassemble the device before figuring out that it is a monitoring device used to track probationers wearing ankle monitoring bracelets.

A Parole Supervisor then fills in the blanks by telling the TV station that a parole officer left the device behind Sunday night, prompting the 1:30am Monday morning bomb-squad call. Knowing what we know about Warren Turner’s troubles staying on the clock as a parole officer, you have to wonder if the parole officer was officially on the job Sunday evening and if so, were they supposed to be.

Also, was the officer reprimanded for leaving behind the equipment, which evidently resulted in its destruction? Sounds like a need for some follow up.

Update: Now WBTV is reporting that an offender some how left the device behind, not an officer. The hed had been, Parole officer loses offender tracking device at restaurant, sparks bomb scare. I don’t get it either.
