Tomorrow, Governor Bev Perdue will present a proposed budget that raises the state sales tax by three-quarters of a cent.
She proposes using the revenue generated from the tax increase to boost education spending by about $800 million. This would include a $650 million increase for public schools, an additional $145 million for universities, and a $53 million appropriation for community colleges.
