I can see where parachutists jumping off the new RBC tower in Raleigh could be considered frivolous during this time of economic uncertainty. That’s but one excuse offered for calling off the jump:

… Bank officials worried that parachutists scheduled to leap from the skyscraper could remind people of stories from the Great Depression of bankers and stockbrokers jumping from buildings to their deaths.

Another reason cited for canceling the jump was out of respect for Wachovia’s troubles. Those who were stoked for the jump say Wachovia won’t mind.
