Well, that helped, didn’t it?

Now that the Rev. Al Sharpton has come and gone — what has changed? Not much. Other than to embolden the likes of CMS board member Vilma Leake. Perhaps now Leake pulls the trigger on running against Mecklenburg County Commissioner Norman Mitchell.

In fact, were political operative Dwayne Collins operating at top speed, he’d re-direct Constance Johnson away from running against Mitchell in the Second district and instead convince her to run at-large. That would both clear the way for Leake and give the pro-Mackey vote somewhere to land countywide. Now wouldn’t Parks Helms love that?

Bonus Observation: I have no idea what the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee, the Community Building Initiative, and Mecklenburg Ministries might be, but I do know a load of crap when I see it. This “conflict” is primarily about one group of mostly younger black activists trying to bum-rush the local power structure which has lavishly rewarded an older generation of black leaders with public dollars and contracts. They figure it is their turn to get paid. Go dialogue that.
