Send John Mazzocchi to Raleigh! He’s the passer-by who tackled a couple of two-bit thugs who had mugged an elderly couple of their Christmas presents in the Concord Mills parking lot. The gifts were recovered, but the punks got away. No doubt they’ll try again this holiday season.
John Mazzocchi can go with Mayor Pat McCrory to ahem, explain, to state lawmakers that Mecklenburg must have its fair share of money for courts and prosecutors, that crime is reaching crisis proportions in the state’s largest city and greatest economic engine.
Here’s the kicker: No police report was filed in incident. The victims did not call the police, so officially it never happened. You can bet there are more such incidents where the victims either quickly recovered property, or simply do not bother to file a property crime report with manifestly disinterested Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police department.
Oh, and Merry Christmas.
