The North Carolina Association of Educators issues a press release in response to Senate Bill 818, which would grant teachers an experienced-based “step” increase and a $350 bonus.  If Governor Cooper agrees to use $95 million in Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund (GEER) funding for teachers, they would receive an additional $600 bonus.

State revenue is $4.2 billion short, and unemployment is in the double digits.  Complaints about the size of any bonus or salary increase in this economic environment are pretty damn outrageous.
