Paul, the N&O says the “subject of Katrina is likely to come up” today. Indeed ? I’ll be very surprised if Edwards doesn’t work Hurricane Katrina in. It’s too tempting not to, I think. I expect we’ll hear him working in all the Katrina-related buzzwords, something along the lines of:

We knew for years about the danger posing New Orleans by a massive hurricane. But we did nothing, and poor people were left homeless, without food or water, while the government did nothing. … But good people have been warning about another disaster on the horizon. Poverty threatens to loot low-income workers of their security and their health. We need to ward off this economic Katrina before it devastates the poor people of this nation. We can’t sit back and do nothing again. We can’t unlearn the lesson of Katrina. We need to build them an economic Superdome strong enough to keep back the wind and waves of poverty. We need to unite the Two Americas to make this work, to give them the promise of healthcare and good, safe schools and living wages. We need to strengthen the levees of Social Security. And that’s where this Center can help … Hope is on the way.
