Who: A lecturer in military history at Muhlenberg College, Edward H. Bonekemper III has written the books How Robert E. Lee Lost the Civil War and A Victor, Not a Butcher: Ulysses S. Grant’s Overlooked Military Genius.

Based on his recently published McClellan and Failure: A Study of Civil War Fear, Incompetence and Worse, Bonekemper will discuss how U.S. General George B. McClellan stymied Lincoln’s wartime strategy and, ironically and unwittingly, played a role in shaping the Civil War into a campaign to end slavery – an undertaking McClellan bitterly opposed.
