RALEIGHJordan Roberts, a rising star in North Carolina’s liberty movement, has been selected to lead the John Locke Foundation’s government affairs division. Roberts’ promotion to Director of Government Affairs is effective December 20, 2021.

A four-year veteran of Locke, Roberts takes the reins of the legislative-focused team from Becki Gray, his mentor and work partner during the 2021 General Assembly session. Gray has accepted a position with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

“Jordan represents the next generation of freedom in North Carolina. He’s smart, strategic, bold, and extremely well-versed in the issues,” said Amy Cooke, CEO of Locke. “He learned from one of the best in Becki Gray, who mentored Jordan on how to turn ideas into reality. We are thrilled to have him as an integral part of Locke’s senior leadership team. More importantly, the residents of North Carolina will be well served as Jordan unabashedly champions personal and economic freedom at the state legislature and throughout the state.”

Locke’s government affairs mission is to defend and advance freedom and free markets across an array of public policy issues. Roberts will harness the resources of Locke’s researchers and writers to provide policymakers with information and data to embrace policies that make North Carolinians freer, lift up the vulnerable, and unleash innovators and job creators.

“Freedom is about improving people’s lives by giving them tools to choose their path and make the most of their potential,” Roberts said. “My mission is to help guide decision-makers toward choices that will light the way.”

Roberts joined Locke in 2018. During his tenure he has held positions in health care policy and legislative affairs. A Charlotte native, Roberts is a graduate of Appalachian State University, where he earned a B.S. in American Government and an M.A. in American Politics.
